The2003-2005 models have the pre-cat issues and are less reliable overall. But, there are still plenty of people with higher mileage 6's with 3.0 and no issues. But, to be safe I believe it was 2006 they changed the exhaust design, and pre-cats are no longer an issue for 2006+ models. The duratec 3.0 is a great engine.
