Mar 25, 2015. Oddometer: 1,021. Location: Vista, CA. Hoping to get a little help on an issue I've observed after installing the powercell air filter system. I was just about to start the AZBDR when I notice oil on top of the rear cylinder valve cover. Disassembled the bike in the parking lot to find it was actually oil inside of the airbox
The owners manual states that the engine holds 3.6lt of oil. I have filled it with just over 4lt, and it is only half way up the sight glass! It looks to me that way more than 3.6lt of oil drained out.
2,829. Location: OH. Production started in 2017, so you may not find a 1090 with a ton of miles out there, but there's plenty of bikes in the 1x90 family with a lot of miles on them out there. I've only got 8k on 1090 so far, but it's been problem free. Great bikes for the price.
So the KTM 1190 Adventure appears to be leaking oil from the hose that connects to the Oil Separator on the Air Box. It's a sealed unit and doesn't seem to be letting any oil into the airbag but it is dribbling down the Oil Separator Foam Hose and onto the rear cylinder and making a fair bit of mess.
